Who we are

Pretoria East Electrician is an electrical contracting business operating from 107 Boardwalk Blvd, Faerie Glen, Pretoria, 0081. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and in the course of our work, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

We handle personal information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What we collect

We only ask for what we need in order to quote on and carry out electrical work. Depending on how you contact us, that may include:

• Your name
• Your phone number and WhatsApp number
• Your email address
• The suburb or street address where the work is needed
• A description of the electrical problem or job
• Any photos or documents you choose to send us
• Basic technical information your browser sends automatically, such as device type and the pages you visited

How we use it

We use your information to:

• Reply to your enquiry and give you a quote
• Arrange and carry out the work, including getting to the correct address
• Issue quotes, invoices and Certificates of Compliance
• Keep a record of work done on your property, which we may need for warranty or compliance reasons
• Contact you about the job while it is in progress

What we do not do

We do not sell your information. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to marketing companies. We do not add you to a mailing list off the back of a quote request.

Who we share it with

We share your details only where it is necessary to do the work or where the law requires it. That may include:

• Suppliers or subcontractors working on your job, and then only what they need to do it
• Our accounting and record-keeping services, for invoicing
• Any authority we are legally obliged to give it to

Third party services on this website

This website embeds a Google Map on the contact page so you can find us. When that map loads, Google may receive your IP address and set cookies under its own privacy policy. Links to WhatsApp and to our Google Business Profile take you onto services run by Meta and Google respectively, which have their own privacy terms.

If we add website analytics, it will be used only to understand which pages people find useful, not to identify individuals.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not turn into work are kept only as long as they are useful, and are then deleted. Records of completed work, including invoices and compliance certificates, are kept for as long as we are required to keep them for tax, warranty and legal purposes.

Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect the information you give us, including limiting who in the business can see it. No system is perfect, but we do not keep information we do not need, which is the simplest protection there is.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us to:

• Tell you what personal information we hold about you
• Correct anything that is wrong or out of date
• Delete your details from our records, where we are not legally required to keep them
• Stop contacting you

Complaints

If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, please raise it with us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
